With over a decade spent protecting Chicagoland families’ interests, Masah S. SamForay, has earned national recognition as a force for her clients. Beyond being recognized as a Top 100 Lawyer, Masah SamForay knows the concerns of clients, intimately. She is a divorcee and working mother who understands what it means to fight for her family during a difficult divorce.

Ms. SamForay is a Co-Founder of the Black Bar Association of Will County. She is a current board member of the National Bar Association- Young Lawyers Division, where she serves as the Treasurer. She is a former board member of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. and served as the Co-Chair of the Small and Solo Firm Committee from 2012-2016. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association- where she holds appointments to the Family Law Section Counsel and Racial and Ethnic Minorities in the Law Committee. She is also active in the Cook County Bar Association, where she was the 2016 and 2017 Chair of the Family Law Committee.

Ms. Masah S. SamForay founded The Foray Firm to preserve the dignity of families in transition. She received both her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University-Bloomington, and was the youngest graduate from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington Class of 2005. Having now practiced for over a decade, Ms. SamForay is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Illinois. A frequent lecturer and panelist for the Illinois State Bar Association, Cook County Bar Association and Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Ms. SamForay is a local leader on all matters relating to family law including complex discovery and pre-trial litigation issues, pre and post-decree allocation of parental responsibilities matters and the representation of minor children in the domestic relations courts. Ms. SamForay is also a registered guardian ad litem/child representative/attorney for the minor child, who is regularly appointed by the judges of the Cook County Domestic Relations Division on complex and highly contested parenting cases.

Outside of the legal community, Ms. SamForay is very active in her community and holds multiple appointments for organizations with a focus on women, children, and underserved populations. Most recently Ms. SamForay was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Governor’s State University. Ms. SamForay is of Sierra Leonean descent, so she enjoys international culture and travels, and she is the Founder and Executive Director for Villages Youth and Family Services, NFP, a 501(c)(3) organization addressing hunger and educational initiatives for children in Chicago and Sierra Leone, West Africa.
